Moktan bags three golds

Kathmandu, July 8

Jit Bahadur Moktan of Manang Marshyangdi Archery Team bagged three gold medals in the third Laxman Kumar Shrestha Memorial National Indoor Archery Tournament organised by Nepal Archery Association.

Moktan, who is scheduled to participate in next month’s Rio Olympic Games through wildcard entry, won individual, team and mixed categories gold medal in Recurve event. Moktan, who had bagged the mixed section on the first day, defeated Ramesh Bhattachan of Himalayan Archery in the individual section today. Amrit Gurung of Kaski Archery finished third.

Likewise, Moktan teamed up with Ongya Gurung and Karma Gurung to claim the team event gold medal, finishing ahead of Bhattachan, Wangel Gurung and Prakash Gurung of Himalayan. Kaski Archery’s Amrit Gurung, Ashim Sherchan and Hom Bahadur Thapa came third.

In women’s Individual Recurve, Aisha Tamang of Tribhuvan Army Club claimed gold medal, while Rashmi Darlami of Kaski and Gyanu Awale of TAC came second and third respectively.

In Standard category, Chitra Hirachan of Manang, Karma Wangchuk Gurung of Swayambhu and Prem BK of TAC claimed the top three spots respectively in men’s section, while Rojina Thapa of Annapurna Archery won women’s gold finishing ahead of Keshari Ale Magar and Puja Thapa.

Laxman Pun, Prashada Acharya and Kishor Kumar Gurung won Compound gold, silver and bronze respectively. Acharya competed in men’s section after being a lone female archer in the category. Likewise, Chitra Hirachan, Urgi Ghale and Jaya Bahadur Gurung claimed the Standard Team Event gold in men’s section. Anirudh Shrestha, Grishma Gurung and Pabindra Man Singh Pradhan of West Archery finished second, while Swayambhu’s Shankar Gurung, Karma Wangchuk and Urgen Funsok Dorje came third.
