Kamana Cup in May

Lalitpur District Saving and Credit Cooperative is organising the Shivani Air fifth Kamana Cooperative Cup Chess Tournament in Jawalakhel from May 3-9.
The tournament is being organised to mark the 60th National Cooperative Day, informed event coordinator Raju Tamrakar at a press meet today. The tournament will be played under league-cum-knockout format over 11 rounds with top eight players after the seventh round earning berths in the knockout stage. Remaining players will fight in the super league round.
The winner of the knockout round will take home a Yamaha Saluto motorbike worth 183,000, while the second, third and fourth position holders will get Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Similarly, top three players of the super league will get Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 apiece.
In women’s category, top three players will earn Rs 10,000, Rs 8,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively, while winners of U-17 category, veteran and the best local player will get Rs 5,000 each. Winner and runner-up of unrated category will take home Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
