Kathmandu register second win in a row
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu beat Nuwakot by 89 runs to record their second consecutive win while Lalitpur defeated Bhaktapur by 34 runs in the U-16 Regional Selection Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.
Skipper Nupur Pandey struck an unbeaten half century as Kathmandu scored 137-2 in 22 overs. In reply, Nuwakot were dismissed for 48 runs in 12 overs. Man-of-the-match Nupur hit seven boundaries in his fluent 60 off 51 balls while Bijaya Rokaya contributed 32 from 41 deliveries. Nischal Bista claimed two wickets while Sanjay Shah and Karan Khatiwada bagged one apiece for Nuwakot.
Only middle order batsman Pujan Shrestha (23) could score in double figures for Nuwakot. Their total was also boosted by 12 sundries. Sarad Giri was the pick of the Kathmandu bowlers with 2-7 while Bijaya, Nupur, Samip Bastola, Rishab Rajbhandari Nikesh Shrestha and Sandesh Pandey all took one wicket each.
In the second match, Lalitpur scored 137 following a fluent half century from opener Dilman Roka and restricted Bhaktapur for 103 runs in 21.5 overs. Man-of-the-match Dilman struck eight fours in his 55-ball 58 and his opening partner chipped in with 22 from 33 balls. Sujan Basnet claimed four and Roshan Karki took three wickets for Bhaktapur. Kiran Shrestha also bagged two and Bikash Limbu two wickets.
In reply, opener Anmol Thapa top scored for Bhaktapur with 29 runs while Sujan Basnet and Ritesh
Basnet contributed 19 and 18 runs respectively. Ram Krishna Jaishwal and Milan Thapa took two wickets each while Hanish Jha and Ayush Gautam claimed one apiece.
