Khanal, Rana, Rawal advance

Nepal’s Pranav Khanal, Mahika Rana and Ira Mehernissa Rawat advanced to the round of 16 in the Nepal ITF Juniors U-18 Tournament Circuit-II here at the Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

In boys’ category, Khanal defeated India’s Vansh Bhagtani 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-3 to make it to the pre-quarters. Similarly, India’s Prasanna Pravin Bagade earned a double bagel against Nepal’s Evyak Joshi, while his teammate Naithaolin Calvin Golmei saw off Nepal’s Nisan Shrestha 6-0, 6-0.

India’s Aaryan Zaveri beat Hong Kong’s Chak Lam Coleman Wong 6-4, 7-6(4) and his teammates Tarush Bagai won 6-4, 6-4 against Kai Shiang Yang of Chinese Taipei and Anurag Agrawal saw off Thailand’s Tanapatt Nirundorn 6-3, 6-4.

Japan’s Daisuke Inagawa defeated Poland’s Michal Wargocki 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 and his teammates Keiju Miyake earned a double bagel against Phathikone Kanyaphan of Laos and Taisei Kageyana beat India’s Shahshikant Rajput 6-4, 6-4. Also, China’s Wenmao Li saw off Poland’s Tomasz Frankowski 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 and Thailand’s Guntinun Sootunun-Opart won after his Indian opponent Jaishvin Sidana retired hurt.

In girls’ category, Rana beat India’s Ashpreet Kaur Bajwa 6-4, 6-1 and Rawat outplayed Chinese Taipei’s Skia Kung 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (6).

Five other Nepali players lost to Indian opponents. Abhilasha Bista went down to Archita Mahalwal 6-4, 6-2, Prakriti Shrestha lost to Srinidhi Sridhar 6-1, 6-1, Anne Mathema suffered a 6-1, 6-1 defeat against Prinkle Singh, Catherine Mathema was beaten by Trisha Vinod 6-3, 6-1 and Saloni Tamang went down to India’s Divya Vaani 6-4, 6-1, and Prerana Koirala was thrashed by China’s Yiming Dang 6-0, 6-3.

In other matches, India’s Sanya Sing beat Malaysia’s Ezatul Syahirab Mohd Nazri 6-1, 6-0, Hong Kong’s Chui Kei Leung beat Japan’s Ai MIzumura 6-1, 6-0 and USA’s Rutuja Chaphalkar defeated India’s Sana Khanna 6-2, 6-3.
