KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club duo Binesh Khaniya and Nabita Shrestha won the titles of the fifth Samjhana Cup International Table Tennis Tournament here at the Lainchaur covered hall on Saturday.

Khaniya came from a set down to record a 7-11, 11-5, 11-9, 15-13, 10-12, 11-3 victory over Santosh Kumar Ramesh of India's Global TT Academy in men's singles final. Indian duo Prashanna Kumar and Bhisin Babhan finished joint third.

In women's singles, nine-time national champion, Shrestha outplayed Kantipur Valley PingPong Club's Rabina Maharjan 11-2, 11-3, 11-3, 11-5. NPC's Elina Maharjan and Kantipur Valley's Diya Deula came joint third. A total of 256 players took part in the tournament that featured 17 events.

Top three players in singles and team events received Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The organisers, Lalitpur Table Tennis Club felicitated four-time national champion Digambar Man Suwal with Lifetime Achievement Award.

NSC Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, All Nepal Table Tennis Association President Chaturananda Rajvaidhya, Lalitpur Table Tennis Club President Urdip Joshi and Samjhana Lab CEO Rajana Joshi handed over prizes to the winners.
