KATHMANDU, APRIL 7

Manang Marshyangdi Club defeated Friends Club 2-0, while Jawalakhel Youth Club and FC Khumaltar played a 2-2 draw in the Martyrs Memorial A Division League here today.

At the Chyasal Stadium, Koffi Timothee Koudo scored in either half as MMC recorded their fourth victory in the league. MMC accumulated 14 points from six matches to move to the top of the table after leaders JYC were held to a draw in the day's another match at the ANFA Complex grounds.

MMC are ahead of JYC on better goal difference after they were tied on 14 points. While MMC completed their six rounds, JYC played a draw in the seventh round match against Khumaltar. Newcomers Khumaltar remained at the ninth position with seven points, while Friends have just four points from six matches and they are at the 12th position in the 14-team table.

MMC opened the scoring in the 34th minute of the match after Koudo found the back of the nets with a powerful strike from the edge of the box. Koudo doubled the tally seven minutes into the second half ina beautiful move that started in their own half. In a counter attack, goalkeeper Deep Karki passed the ball to Ranadeep, who fed Sumit Shrestha from midfield.

Shrestha guided the ball into the box before releasing for Koudo, who scored an easy goal from the six-yard box.

At the ANFA Complex grounds, JYC squandered a chance to remain at the top of the table after they settled for a 2-2 draw with Khumaltar. JYC took the lead in the 33rd minute through a goal from Nkoto Synous Masoabi but their joy shortlived as Abhishek Limbu levelled the scores two minutes later.

Pierre Jean Marie Messouke Etiegnie Oloumou put Khumaltar ahead in the 63rd minute and JYC needed a 85th minute equaliser from Fode Fofana to salvage a draw.
