Knight Chess triumph

Kakarvitta, July 2:

Knight Chess Club of Mechi opened the final round of the Eastern ANFA Championship League Football here with a 3-0 win over Kasturi Youth Club of Sagarmatha today.

Karna Limbu scored a brace and Dipendra Dhital added the other for Knight Chess. Limbu scored in the eighth and 41st minute while Dhital converted in the 23rd minute. Knight Chess Club goalkeeper Min Basnet won the man of the match award.

In all four teams — two from Koshi and one each from Mechi and Sagarmatha zone — were selected for the final round played under round robin league format. Temke Club and Samrat Sporting Club represent Koshi zone. A total of 175 clubs from three zones took part in the selection tournament held on June 8-18.

The top three winners will get Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. The best player will get Rs 10,000. Likewise, five best individuals — forward, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper and a coach — will be awarded with a purse of Rs 5,000 each, said the organisers.
