Kumar, Priti crowned champions

Kumar Adhikari and Priti Rijal claimed the the ninth Investment Bank Open Tennis Tournament here today.
Top seed Adhikari rallied from set down to beat Ramesh Karki 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the men’s singles final. Adhikari won the winner’s cheque of Rs 40,000 while Karki earned Rs 20,000. In the women’s singles final, Rijal had fairly easy task beating Malika Rana in straight sets
6-2, 6-4. Rijal also took home Rs 40,000 for her effort. Playing with Jitendra Pariyar, Adhikari also claimed the men’s doubles championship. The pair of
Adhikari and Pariyar overcame Sriram Thapa and Ramesh Karki 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 in final to earn Rs 15,000.
Likewise, Rijal and Hari Hayu combined to clinch the mixed doubles trophy. Rijal and Hayu beat Malika Rana and Sanu Gurung 6-1, 6-2 in straight sets and shared Rs 15,000. Men’s and mixed doubles runners up received Rs 7,000 each.
Manoj Rana crowned the veterans’ championship without even playing after his opponent Raju Shrestha pulled out of the match with injury. Investment Bank’s board of director member Surendra Singh and All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association president Manoj Rana among others gave away the prizes.
