Lumbini General Insurance Company Limited is organising the LGI Open Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday.
Around 120 golfers are expected to take part in the two-day tournament which will be played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, informed the organisers at a press meet today. The tournament, initiated by Lumbini General Insurance Company Limited in 2018, was cancelled in 2019 and 2020 due to coronavirus pandemic.
"We began the event in 2018 under our social corporate responsibility but we could not organise the tournament in the last two years due to the COVID-19," said Lumbini General Insurance Company Limited CEO Noor Prakash Pradhan.
"We have taken this tournament as a strong platform for business relationship management," he added.
RNGC Treasurer Madhur Sinnya said they were looking forward to restrict the number of participants to 100 for smooth round of golf for the players. "We are trying to manage the participants as we have been receiving a tremendous response from golfers," he said. According to Sinnya, 16 junior and 10 women golfers had already registered for the tournament.
The winners and runners-up in men, women, senior and junior categories along with best gross, most birdies, longest drive, closest-to-the pin and best sportsmanship will receive trophies and gift hampers.
Deputy CEO of Lumbini General Insurance Company Limited Barishma Acharya and professional golfer Ramesh Nagarkoti were also present on the occasion.
