RIBS triumph :

KATHMANDU: RIBS crushed Sangrila School 88-15 in the senior boys’ match at the fifth Baba Inter-school Basketball Championship here today.

Ideal Model, Brihaspati Bidyasadan and Unique also won their respective matches in the senior boys’ category. Ideal Model beat hosts Baba Boarding School 45-34 while Brihaspati thrashed Shuvatara 59-15.Unique beat Reliance Academy 69-37 with exception 46 points from Ajay Thapa. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) registered a 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 win over Nuwakot Volleyball Samuha in the Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Volleyball League Championship today. Gulmeli Yuva Club beat Bode Yuva Club 25-14, 25-13, 25-18 while Shikhar Sanskritik Manch defeated hosts Dhorpatan Sports Trainning Centre 25-14, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16. KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (UML) felicitated the 10th South Asian Games (SAG) medal-winning players, coaches and officials amid a programme here today. General Secretary of the party Madhav Kumar Nepal handed over the felicitation letter to players and officials. Speaking on the occasion, Nepal assured that sports will be made free from political interferences. Minister for Education and Sports Mangal Siddhi Manandhar opined the need to strengthen the associations in order to bring about the positive results in the sports sector. — HNS

LALITPUR: Narayan Nagar Yuva Club (NNYC) beat Janamarga Yuva Club 3-1 while Bagdol Youth Club and Nawa Suryamukhi Santi Yuva Club played a 3-3 draw on the opening day of the Lalitpur District League Football Tournament today. Surendra Gurung, Mihir Tiwari and Mohan Lama scored a goal each while Dinesh Bajagain scored for Janamarga. For Bagdol, Rajendra Thapa struck twice and Rohit Tamang scored. Narayan Karki, Abhinas Rai and Binod KC scored a goal each for Naw Suryamukhi. — HNS
