Rajbhandary wins KEGG Cup
KATHMANDU: Deepak Rajbhandary accumulated 65 net points to win the KEGG Cup and Monthly Medal Golf Tournament organised by Kathmandu Eager Golfers Group here at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa today.
Playing with a handicap of 15, Rajbhandary earned 41 in front nine and 39 in the back for a total of 80 gross points to capture the trophy. Wang Yi, playing with a handicap of 11, came second with 65 points and also bagged the longest drive award. BB Shrestha, with 68 points, finished third. Eu Hazur Thapa came first in the ladies section with 75 points, while Subodh Thapa won the closest to the pin award. President Nepal Golf Association Pradeep Kumar Shrestha and Chairman of KEGG Suhrid Ghimire gave away prizes to the winners. Chaudhary Group sponsored the prizes for the event. — HNS
Baluwatar triumph
KATHMANDU: Indra Kamal Manandhar scored a century and Rupesh Shrivastav took 7-14
as Baluwatar Cricket Club thrashed Third Eye Club by 234 runs in the Kathmandu District Senior Cricket Selection Tournament here on Saturday.
Batting first, Baluwatar amassed 299/4 in 40 overs and packed Third Eye for a paltry 65 in 26.5 overs. Manandhar scored unbeaten 108 off 123 balls, while Sunam Gautam hit 52 off 41 balls. Satyam Ahuja (31), Suman Uday (25) also chipped in valuable runs. Sushil Acharya took 2-51 off eight overs for Third Eye. In reply, Sauraj Thapa top-scored for Third Eyae with 22 runs. Shrivastav took seven wickets conceding 14 runs in eight overs and earned the man of the match award. Mahavir Cricket Club will take on New Vision Club on Sunday. — HNS

LALITPUR: Casino Shangri-La and Casino Tara registered wins in the Group A matches of the
Tara Running Shield second Inter-casino Football Tournament here at the ANFA Technical Centre in Chyasal on Saturday. In the first match, man of the match Trilochan Khadka scored a hat-trick as Shangri-La outplayed Casino Rad 6-0. Sunil Tamang, Sikender and Hari Thamang also scored for the winners. In the other match, defending champions Tara beat Nepal Recreation Centre (NRC) 2-1 and topped the group. Sudarsan Napit and Basanta Khadka scored for Tara, while Deepak Tamang pulled one back for NRC. — HNS
