Lumbini shock leaders Jhapa-XI

Purna Bahadur Gurung scored the solitary goal as Jagdamba Lumbini Football Club registered a stunning 1-0 victory over leaders Ram Pam Jhapa-XI here at the Domalal Stadium on Saturday.

The loss meant Jhapa dropped five points in two matches following their goalless draw against Morang two days earlier. With win, Lumbini moved to seventh with seven points from 10 matches, while Jhapa remained at the top of the standing with 17 points from 10 matches.

Ruslan Three Star Club, who played eight matches, are second with 15 points, followed by Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal APF Club on 14 each. Buddha Air Morang FC, who suffered a thrashing 5-1 defeat at Sudur Biscuit Far-west Football Club in the day’s other match at Laxmi Marg grounds, slipped to bottom with five points from 10 matches.

In Jhapa, Gurung’s lone goal was enough for Lumbini to register their second victory of the campaign and snatch full three points from the league leaders, who suffered their third defeat.

In Morang, Lawal scored a brace, while Ananta Tamang, Janom Man Ligal and Bimal Gharti Magar netted one each as Lumbini got their second victory. Sumit Khadka scored the consolation goal for Morang, who have played five draws against five losses, are the only team to register victory in the league.

They are at the bottom with five points. Far-west accumulated 13 points from 10 matches to jump to sixth position on inferior goal with Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club who have played eight matches.

On Sunday, Tribhuvan Army Club will face Nepal APF Club at the ANFA Complex grounds.
