LALITPUR: Anushka Malla cruised into the second round of the U-16 girls’ singles at the third LAS/JTI Inter-school Open Junior Tennis Championship today.

Malla registered a crushing 9-0 win over Anjana Lama. Aswini Khan and Ana Lama also reached the second round of the category winning their respective matches at the Satdobato Tennis Courts today.

In the Under-14 boys’ singles, Tendi Sherpa, Anand Gauchan Thile Sherpa, David Tako, Dibya Chalise, Sawan Karki, Suyesh Rajbhandari, Subir Shrestha, Brahmanda Moktan, Achal Thapa, Nil Pandey and Binod Gautam won their matches to reach the second round.

Sange Wangde, Maya Lama, Akanshya Vaidhya, Sinila Maria and Anushka Malla also advanced to the U-14 girls’ singles second round. Also, N Mathema and Bibhuti Karki qualified for the second round. Safal Shrestha and Pranaya Kayastha reached the U-12 boys singles’ second round. A total of 185 students from 27 schools are participating in the five-day tournament.
