BARA: The Disciplinary Committee of the ninth Ruslan Simara Gold Cup on Monday handed a two-match ban on Ruslan Three Star Club’s foreign recruit Ayayi Martins after their quarter-final match against Farwest Sports Club.

“Martins was found guilty of manhandling his teammate Biswas Shrestha after the final whistle and we decided to suspend him for two matches,” said Disciplinary Committee convenor and tournament coordinator Shambhu Singh Thakuri.

The incident happened at a time when the two teams were preparing for penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in the regulation period.

Three Star went on to win the match 4-2 in tie-breaker.
