Kathmandu, December 26

Maya Universe Academy defended the title of the 25th Father Moran Memorial Primary School Invitational Football Tournament here at the SXG grounds today.

The 2019 winners Maya Universe of Tanahun defeated hosts St Xavier's Godavari School 4-0 in the final match. Manjil Shrestha and Ebash BK scored two goals each for Maya Universe. Shrestha was named the player of the match.

Modern Indian School finished third after they beat Nepal Don Bosco School 4-3 on penalties. The match was decided in tie-breaker after the teams were deadlocked at 1-1 in regulation period. Aaroosh Bilas Panta scored for MIS, while Rupson Nepal netted for Don Bosco. Mingma Pakhrin of MIS was named the player of the match. Sandesh Tudu of SXG was declared the best player of the tournament, while Aaditya BK, Ebash BK and Joris Van Dorpe of Maya Universe were named the best goalkeeper, highest scorer and coach respectively. MIS duo Pratik Baniya and John Raut were adjudged the best defender and promising player respectively. Nepal Don Bosco School won the fair play award.

A total of 25 school teams took part in the silver jubilee edition of the tournament organised by St Xavier's Godavari School in memory of Father Marshall D Moran SJ, who was the founder principal of the school. Godavari Municipality Mayor Gajendra Maharjan, School Superior Fr George PM, SJ and Principal Fr Vijay Pratap Toppo, SJ handed over the prizes to the winners.
