Gauchan, Tamang bag archery gold medals

Kathmandu, January 7

Thasang Sports Club’s Min Gauchan and Tribhuvan Army Club’s Ayasha Tamang won the individual 70m recurve category titles of the eighth National Archery Tournament under the NSC Championship here today.

In men’s section final, Gauchan defeated Swoyambhu Archery Club’s Prem Prasad Pun 7-3. Tilak Pun Magar of Kaski Archery Club came third.

In women’s category final, Tamang saw off her TAC teammate Gyanu Awale 6-4 to win the gold medal. Tamanna Chhetri of Kanchanpur Archery Club finished third.

Rajdhani Archery Club’s Sanatan Malla beat Prajit Agrawal of Best Archery Cub 140-119 to win the men’s 50m compound category gold medal.

In the men’s 30m standard category, Dhanendra Chhantyal of Swoyambhu accumulated six points to win the gold, while Nabin Bir Basnet came second with four points. TAC’s Dambar Thapa was third.

In the women’s category, Keshari Ale Magar of Annapurna defeated TAC’s Mitra Rai 7-3 to win the gold medal. Rojina Thapa Magar of Annapurna won bronze medal. TAC won the men’s 30m standard team event gold medal beating Best Archery, while Annapurna won bronze medal.

National Sports Council Vice-president Lama Tendi Sherpa, AIPS-Asia Treasurer Niranjan Rajbanshi, Nepal Archery Association President Deepak Gurung among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
