Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) defeated Brigade Boys Club (BBC) 4-0 to reclaim the top spot while Boys’ Union Club (BUC) came back thrice to hold Sankata Club to a 3-3 draw in the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League Football at the Dasharath Stadium today.

Sagar Thapa, Rajan Raymajhi, Anil Gurung and Umesh Upretti scored a goal each that saw the Carlsberg MMC back on top of the table with 15 points from six matches. In the other match, Chetan Ghimire, Pukar Gahatraj and Sudeep Shikrakar scored for Sankata while Roshan pulled back two and Dipendra Pariyar one goal for BUC who got their first point.

Sagar gave MMC the lead when he headed home on Raj Kumar Ghising’s pass five minutes into the game and Rayamajhi doubled their lead in the 29th minute following a pass from Ghising. Anil added another in the 42nd minute as he simply tapped in on a cross from Sagar. Umesh Upretti headed home on Khum Gurung’s corner in the 58th to make it 4-0.

MMC coach Chhiring Lopsang Gurung said that they still need to work on the frontline. “We scored goals but we should have scored more goals,” said Gurung. BBC coach Suman Yonzon said that MMC was a great team and he was not surprised by the result.

In the second game, Chetan Ghimire headed home on a pass from Bharat Khawas to put Sankata ahead in the 10th minute before Roshan Ranjit levelled the scores for BUC capitalising on a misunderstanding between Sankata goalkeeper Rupak Shrestha and skipper Bikash Singh Chhetri in the 20th.

Pukar Gahatraj made it 2-1 in the 36th minute but Roshan pulled out a stunning 30-yard goal to level the tally for the second time. Sudeep Shikrakar put Sankata again on the lead in the 80th minute scoring on Anil Ojha’s cross. Dipendra Pariyar pulled back the equaliser seconds before the final whistle.

“They (BUC) played much better than they had before,” said Sankata coach Maheshwore Mulmi. He also said that overconfidence and inexperiece of his boys caused them to lose two points. BUC coach Shyam Mali said that his players performance was improving.
