Nagarkoti-led team clinches Pro-Am title

Pokhara, April 7:

Professional golfer Ramesh Nagarkoti may have missed out on main tournament but he did lead his team to victory in the Pro-Am tournament under the Surya Nepal Western Open here

at the Himalayan Golf Club today.

Nagarkoti and his team of Maj Bijay Moktan, Bishnu Gurung and Jay Bahadur Gurung tallied 94 stableford points, while the team of Pashupati Sharma (professional) and amateurs Lachhim Prasad Gurung, Budhiman Gurung and Laxman Pun came second with 92 points.

Likewise, Rajan Thapa Magar (pro), Madan Gurung, Chitrajun Gurung and Capt Kajiman Gurung claimed the third place. While the amateurs received trophies, the three professional golfers earned Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1,000 respectively.

The professional’s score was mandatory, while the two best amateur scores made up the team’s total.

Juti Tham Akul won the Longest Drive award at the Hole No 14 and Trilochan Malla won the Closest to Pin award at the Hole No 11.

Secretary of the Nepal Golf Association Maj Bijoy Moktan and president of the Nepal Professional Golfers’ Association Ghanshyam Thapa gave away prizes. The Surya Nepal Western Open was sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd and supported by Nepal Tourism Board.
