NBA honour boxers
Kathmandu: The Nepal Boxing Association (NBA) felicitated 11th South Asian Games medal winning boxers and a coach with cash rewards here on Saturday. As per their announcement before the regional meet, NBA gave away Rs 20,000 to silver medallist Ajit Gurung and Rs 10,000 to the bronze winner Laxman Saud. Team coach Prachanda Sharma was provided with Rs 5,000. National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Hari Babu Chaudhary handed over the cash rewards at a felicitation programme. NBA treasurer and Lalitpur Boxing Association president Ram Awale also feted the silver and bronze medalists with Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively during the programme. Meanwhile, the NBA also bade farewell to a seven-member team to compete in the 32nd Kings Cup Boxing Championships slated for April 2-7 in Thailand. The team includes Dinesh Shrestha (57kg), Sushil Ghimire (64kg), Deepak Maharjan (81kg) and Laxman Saud (51kg). Coach Dambar Datta Bhatta, manager Sanjeev Baidhya and chief boxing coach Prachanda Sharma — as a referee — will accompany the players who will leave on Wednesday.
