KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 15

Nepal has been eliminated from the group stage after suffering nine-wicket loss to West Indies in the group fixture of the ongoing T20 World Cup at Wankhade stadium on Sunday.

West Indies won the toss and elected to field first, restricting Nepal to 133 for eight in their allotted 20 overs in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Nepal's innings was anchored by Dipendra Singh Airee, who compiled a resilient 58 off 47 deliveries, striking three fours and three sixes. However, Nepal endured a disastrous start, losing the in-form Kushal Bhurtel cheaply in the opening over. The batting side soon found themselves reeling at 23 for four, with wickets falling at regular intervals.

Despite Airee's steady presence at the crease, Nepal struggled to build meaningful partnerships and failed to post a competitive total to seriously challenge the West Indian batting line-up. Jason Holder was the chief architect of the collapse, ripping through Nepal's middle order to thwart any hopes of a late recovery.

In reply, the West Indies chased down the modest target with consummate ease. Skipper Shai Hope struck an unbeaten half-century, while Shimron Hetmyer contributed an unbeaten 46 off 32 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes, as the Caribbean side sealed victory comfortably.

With this defeat, Nepal's campaign came to an end at the group stage, while the West Indies progressed to the next round of the competition.

Nepal will conclude their group-stage fixtures against Scotland national cricket team on Tuesday at the same venue.
