Nepal slump to 10-wicket loss to Pakistan in T20 World Cup Cricket for Blind
KATHMANDU: Nepal's National Cricket Team for Blind's joy did not last long after defeating South Africa yesterday as they slumped to a 10-wicket defeat to Pakistan during the 2nd T20 World Cup cricket Tournament for the Blind played at the Delhi Dwaraka DDA Ground in New Delhi on Friday.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first, Nepal posted a meagre total of 116/8 on board in their allotted 20 overs. Sunil Rana Magar Man-of-the-Match against South Africa carried the momentum in today's game as well and top scored run-a-ball 40 runs with a single hit to the fence.
Nepal's both the openers were run-outs and Sunil Rana Magar steadied the flattering innings with his patience knock of 40 runs.
Rana was clean bowled by Sana Ullah Khan on the penultimate over of the game. Nepal's opener Ramesh Bahadur Baniya contributed 15 runs with a single boundary off 31 balls. Wicket Keeper Lok Bahadur Thapa also contributed 10 runs off 15 balls with one hit to the fence.
Padam Bahadur Badaila belted one maximum and a hit to the boundary for his 10 runs off just two balls of the final over of Nepal's innings.
Pakistan's Sana Ullah Khan was pick of the bowlers as he scalped two Nepali wickets and Riasat Khan and Muhammad Ayyaz chipped in with a wicket each. Nepal failed to impose themselves in the game as Pakistani bowlers kept taking wickets at the regular interval and dented Nepali batsmen building a decent partnership to post a challenging total on the board.
In reply, Pakistan eased to victory inside 8 overs with both the openers Mati ullah and Riasat Khan hitting fifties to propel Pakistan to victory over the Himalayan Nation.
Pakistan's opener Mati Ullah anchored the innings with his measured knock of 50 runs off just 35 balls with nine hit to the boundary.
Meanwhile, the other opener Riasat Khan also played sensibly to share the unbroken partnership of 117 runs for the first wicket with his quick fire 56 runs off just 20 balls with a towering hit over the rope and single hit to the boundary.
Earlier, Nepal had suffered a 10-wicket loss to Australia in their opening game while they had lost to Bangladesh by 59 runs in their second game.
They had bounced back to record a shock six-wicket win over South Africa in the third game, before suffering the heavy loss to Pakistan today.
Nepal will take on the West Indies tomorrow at the MIG Cricket Club, Bandra, Mumbai in Maharashtra, India. The game is scheduled to start at local 9:15 am.
