NSC to open hospital, university

Lalitpur, June 3

The National Sports Council today decided to open sports hospital and sports university and approved the minister-level decision of handing the eighth National Games hosting rights to Mid-western Development Region.

The 108th board meeting of the sports governing body was chaired by NSC President and Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripaili. “We have already prepared the detailed project report of the hospital and it will be constructed on the premises of the Dasharath Stadium,” said NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista. “And we have decided to establish the sports university at Gauritar Academy in Makawanpur and it will take time.”

The meeting also endorsed the minister-level decision regarding the eighth National Games hosting rights which was taken during the seventh edition of the meet in Eastern Region in December last year. “We had handed over the National Games flag to Mid-western Regional Sports Development Committee during the seventh National Games as per the minister-level decision. If the structure of the country remains the same, the eighth National Games will be held in Mid-western Region in two years time,” the NSC said in a release.

The board meeting also decided to consult with the concerned stakeholders and implement the players’ special facilities procedures apart from reviewing the organisational structure and management schedule of the NSC before sending it to the MoYS.

The NSC also welcomed two newly-nominated board members Arjun Bahadur KC and Sudil Shahi.

The NSC also decided to prepare the detailed accounts of the seventh National Games and ask the government to allocate insufficient budget, and also start the process of hiring and promotion of its staff.
