NIST, Sahid Smarak enter University Cup last eight

NIST College and Sahid Smarak College entered the quarter-finals of the Sponsor University Cricket Cup Twenty20 Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

NIST thrashed Patan Multiple Campus by 110 runs, while Sahid Smarak recorded a six-wicket win against Patan Academy of Health Sciences.

Put into bat first, NIST posted a mammoth 182-5 riding on half centuries from openers Bishal Acharya and Sohan Yadav. In reply, Patan Campus were packed for 72 runs in 17.1 overs.

NIST’s Acharya scored 51-ball 52 with the help of seven boundaries, while Yadav scored a quickfire 45-ball 51 hitting three boundaries and a six. Bibek Rana Magar scored 44 off just 22 balls that included seven fours and a six.

Nirmal Luitel was the lone Patan batsman to reach double figures with 21 off 31 balls hitting a four.

Pradip Pariyar was the pick of the NIST bowlers taking four wickets, while Sumit Jha took three. Man-of-the-match Bipin Acharya, Shankar Poudel and Surya Lama claimed apiece.

Similarly, Patan Academy of Health Sciences were bowled out for 116 runs in 18.1 overs before Sahid Smarak raced

to victory in 18.2 overs with six wickets in hand.

Manish Yadav scored 29-ball 33 and Nripesh Raj Giri hit 22-ball 29. Yadav hit four boundaries and Giri’s innings included five fours.

Man-of-the-match Dev Chalaune took three wickets for Sahid Smarak, while Lalit Pyakurel and Tek Bahadur Salami claimed two wickets each. In reply, Sahid Smarak achieved the target riding on Nabin Sharma’s 34 off 48 and Sagar Lamsal’s unbeaten 24 off 31. Sharma and Lamsal hit three boundaries each.

Nripesh Raj Giri bagged two wickets for Patan Academy of Health Science.
