NSJF pays tribute to victims

Kathmandu, December 2

Nepal Sports Journalists Forum on Friday paid tribute to the the victims of the LaMia plane crash. The chartered flight, carrying Chapecoense club players, officials and journalists crashed on Monday near Medellin, Colombia.

Out of the 76 people aboard, 71 died which included 20 journalists. Chapecoense, an ‘A’ division outfit of Brazil, were scheduled to play the Copa Sudanamericana first leg match against Atletico Nacionale on Wednesday. Five survivors were rescued from the crash site.

Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Federation of Nepali Journalists President Dr Mahendra Bista, Vice-president Anita Bindu, Vice-president of National Sports Council Lama Tendi Sherpa, Nepal National and International Players Association President Deepak Bista, football coach Raju Kaji Shakya, players and members of the NSJF observed a minute silence, lit 71 candles resembling the number of people dead in the crash at the Dasharath Stadium.

The participants also carried the placards written with #brazilianfootballteam, #Chapecoense, #BrazilPlaneCrash, #ForzaChapecoense, #SportsJournalists, #NSJFSolidarity, #Condolence messages.
