PM Cup football teams announced

Lalitpur, March 1:

Republican Sports Federation of Nepal (RSFN) today announced two Nepali national teams

for the PM Cup Football Tournament scheduled here at the Dasharath Stadium

for March 5-15.

Nepal Police Club defender will lead the Nepal ‘Red’ while New Road Team (NRT) midfielder Basanta Gauchan will captain the Nepal ‘Blue’ team. Nepal ‘Red’ are pitted against Bangladesh and Pakistan in Group ‘B’ while the ‘Blue’ team are up against Sri Lanka and JW Team of Thailand in Group ‘A’.

Members of the Nepal ‘Red’ team include Bikash Malla, Ritesh Thapa, Samit Rajbhandari, Anjan KC, Sagar Thapa, Biraj Maharjan, Santosh Gurung, Chun Bahadur Thapa, Suman Subedi, Raju Tamang, Sandeep Rai, Nabin Neupane, Khum Gurung, Ranjit Shrestha, Vishad Gauchan, Jumanu Rai, Anil Gurung, Nirajan Raymajhi and Bijay Gurung. Yogamber Suwal has been named as the ‘Red’ coach while Kishor KC his assistant and Upendra Man Singh the goalkeeping coach.

Likewise, members in the Nepal ‘Blue’ team include Kiran Kumar Limbu, Rupesh Shrestha, Dinesh Thapa, Robin Shrestha, Rohit Chand, Nur Raj Kafle, Deepak Bhusal, Sabindra Shrestha, Sanjeev Budhathoki, Bikash Singh Chhetri, Anil Ojha, Dipendra Shrestha, Bhola Silwal, Santosh Nepali, Chetan Ghimire, Yugal Kishor Rai, Santosh Sahukhala, Nirajan Malla and Deepak Rai. Baiju Kapali is the coach of the ‘Blue’ team and Bal Gopal Maharjan his assistant. Mrigendra Mishra has been named as the ‘Blue’ team goalkeeping coach.

The tournament opens with a match against Nepal ‘Blue’

and Sri Lanka, who will arrive here on Monday. Top two teams from each of the two groups

will advance in the semi-finals. All Nepal Football Association

is providing the technical support for the event.
