Kathmandu, November 18

Nepal Police Club came from behind to beat Jawalakhel Youth Club 2-1 in the third Chandragiri Mayor Gold Cup Football Tournament here at the Naikap grounds today.

Bhola Silwal and Prabesh Danuwar replied for the departmental side after foreign recruit Adama Dumbia had put Jawalakhel ahead. With the win, NPC advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament organised by Deepshikha Youth Group. NPC will face fellow A-division outfit Chyasal Youth Club on Saturday.

Dumbia opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the match with a fine header from close range. Jawalakhel put NPC under pressure after the goal but they could not find the back of the nets. The departmental side came back strongly in the second half and scored two goals to register the victory.

Bhola Silwal levelled the scores in the 53rd minute after he was fed by Suman Lama, who dodged as many as four players before releasing the ball, and the striker slammed home without any mistake.

Prabesh Danuwar scored the winning goal in the 74th minute when he beat Jawalakhel goalkeeper Arun Tamang in one-on-one situation. Nir Kumar Rai of NPC was named the man of the match and he received Rs 5,000.

On Tuesday, CMG Club Sankata will play against Nepal APF Club. A total of 12 teams are taking part in the tournament. Top two teams will earn Rs 650,000 and Rs 350,000 respectively, while best player of the tournament and the highest scorer will get Rs 30,000 each.
