Koirala, Vishwanath win doubles title, Rawat enters final

Lalitpur, September 15

The pair of Prerana Koirala of Nepal and Lakshanya Vishwanath of India won the girls’ doubles title of the Kesha Group ANLTA-Asian Junior Tour U-14 Circuit-II Tournament here at Satdobato Tennis Complex today.

Koirala and Vishwanath beat the pair of Abhilasha Bista and Ira Mehernissa Rawat 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 to win the title. In boys’ section, Indian duo of Arnav Pathange and Ambitious Goldsmith won the title with a 6-1, 6-0 win against the pair of Saharsha Chand and Aadit Subedi of Nepal.

Pathange and Goldsmith had defeated the same Nepali pair to win doubles title of the Circuit-I.

Ira Mahernissa Rawat and Abhilasha Bista set the girls’ singles title match. In all-Nepal semi-final encounter, Rawat registered a 6-4, 7-6 win over Prerana Koirala.

During the semi-final of the Circuit-I Rawat had defeated Koirala 6-2, 6-3. Later Rawat became champion with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Shambhavi Tiwari of India. In another match, Bista edged past Saloni Tamang 6-0, 6-0.

The final between Rawat and Bista will be played on Friday.

Likewise, winner of the Circuit-I Arnav Pathange of India will face Nepal’s Samyak Bajracharya in boys’ singles final. Pathange beat Aadit Subedi 6-0, 6-0.

The duo had met in the final of the Circuit-I where Pathange recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win. Bajracharya saw off Aryan Giri 6-4, 6-4 to book his place in the final slated for Friday.
