PUSET, NEC win

Bhaktapur, March 18:

Purbanchal University School of Engineering and Technology (PUSET) and Nepal Engineering College (NEC) entered the quarter-finals of the Wai Wai fifth KCC Running Trophy Nationwide Inter-college Cricket Tournament here today.

In the second-day matches at the Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya grounds, PUSET of Biratnagar beat hosts KCC ‘B’ by 11 runs and NEC defeated Khwopa Engineering College by 29 runs.

In the first match, PUSET scored 117-9 in 20 overs after electing to bat and restricted KCC ‘B’ for 106 in 18.5 overs. Avay Karna scored 24 and Ravi Gartaula made 21 for PUSET. Aashish Adhikari and Nihit Dahal took two wickets for KCC.

In reply, Arpan Baukaji top-scored with 26 runs and Suraj Rai made 14 for KCC. Man of the match Nitesh Pradhan took 4-17 off four overs and Prabin Pradhan claimed two wickets for PUSET. In the other match, NEC scored 115-9 in 20 overs before dismissing Khwopa for 86 in 17.3 overs. NEC’s Krishna Bahadur Adhikari top-scored in the match with 23 runs and also took two wickets to earn the man of the match award. Sandeep Kairi scored 20 runs for NEC.

Khwopa’s Deua-shish Koirala took three wickets.

In reply, Bikash Gurung and Nirajan Vaidya scored 15 runs each for Khwopa. Apart from Shahi, Anuj KC bagged two wickets for NEC.
