Mithun Rai and Arshiya Banu won the titles of the Nepal Tourism Cup Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Rai accumulated 39 points to finish first in the men's section. Col Pratap Bahadur Bohara finished second with 38 points. Col Bishnu Bahadur Karki won the gross section trophy with 32 points.
Arshiya Banu claimed the women's section trophy with 40 points, while Aaiesteena Tandan finished second with 37 points. San Prasad Pradhan (38) and Kalpana Limbu (30) won the senior category awards.
Prakrit Tamang won the boys' U-17 section trophy with 38 points, while Soham Agrawal came second with 31 points. Avanie Rai bagged the girls' U-17 category title with 25 points, whereas Yashwi Shrestha finished second with 14 points. Aaradhya Tandan (24) and Yashaswi Bhandari (nine) bagged the U-10 category titles.
Arjun Kumar Karki won the most birdies award with four birdies, while Pemba Sherpa and Mahendra Kant Mainali bagged the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin trophies respectively.
A total of 122 golfers including 18 junior players took part in the three-day tournament organised by the Nepal Golf Association under the auspices of Nepal Tourism Board, Bagmati Province Sports Development Council and Royal Nepal Golf Club.
Joint Secretary at Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Budhi Sagar Lamichhane, RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba, Vice-president Rajendra Shrestha, NGA senior Vice-president Pavitra Kumar Karki, Vice-president Phursang Lama and Treasurer Krishna Kumar Agrawal handed over the prizes to the winners.
The tournament was also supported by Hotel Aloft, Hotel Soaltee, Hotel Everest, Hotel Hyatt Regency, Mechi Crown Hotel, Arshiya Boutique, China Cook Restaurant, Lamee Coffee, Korean Restaurant, Pernod Ricard and Jawalakhel Group of Industries along with Royal Hua Hin Golf Club and Springfield Golf Resort of Thailand.
