Rai wins golf tourney
Kathmandu, September 1:
Mithun Rai won the Japanese Ambassador’s Farewell Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) today. Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Rai scored 37 points, one point more than runner up Suhrid Ghimire, to win the tournament. Pawitra Yakthumba scored 28 points to claim the ladies’ title while Kalpana Limbu finished runner up with 25 points. Siddheshwar Kumar Singh won the senior section title and Paire Lal Thapa claimed the super senior title. Other winners include Raj Pradhan (hole-in-one and best gross), Maj Man Bahadur Limbu (most birdies), Deep Bahadur Basnet (longest drive), Shreejay Acharya (closest-to-the-pin) and Joseph Nathan (guest winner). Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Tsutomu Hiraoka gave away the prizes.
