Revolving fund to be established

Kathmandu, November 15

Family of late Ambika Bahadur Chhetri handed over one million rupees to Nepal Judo Association to establish revolving fund.

Chhetri’s family donated the amount to organise the Ambika Bahadur Chhetri Memorial Judo Tournament, which is organised annually in memory of the former vice-president of the NJA.

Pramod Bahadur Chhetri and Amod Bahadur Chhetri – the kins of Ambika Bahadur Chhetri — handed over the amount to NJA President Deepak Harsha Bajracharya and Treasurer Bipin Shrestha in the presence of National Sports Council Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista. According to NJA President Bajracharya, the interest of the amount will be used for the tournament.

Praising Chhetri family for their generous support to the NJA, NSC Member Secretary Bista said Chhetri’s contribution in judo was remarkable and that others should follow the suit. Meanwhile, NSC Member Secretary Bista handed over the sixth DAN certificate and belt to Khadak Bahadur Dahal, who became the first Nepali judoka to achieve the accolades. The certificate and belt were received from Kodokan Judo Institute of Japan.
