KATHMANDU: Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club President Mukhiya Kanchha Gurung, who is currently in Bangladesh with the team for the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup in Chittagong, announced the reward to the squad.

Gurung, who had announced a reward of Rs 500,000 before leaving for Bangladesh, said he would add another Rs 500,000 from his personal account and the 50 per cent of the prize money if the team wins the title.

“We want to boost the morale of the players and we decided to announce the reward,” said Gurung.

The top two teams will receive $30,000 and $15,000 respectively. MMC made it to the semi-finals as Group B runners-up on Friday and will face Group A winners TC Sports Club of Maldives on Monday.

If MMC claim the title, the reward for the team will be around Rs 2.5 million. “We are planning to reward the players with 50 per cent of the prize money if the team finishes second in the tournament,” Gurung added.
