JHAPA: Rupandehi-XI recorded a 2-1 victory over Tribhuvan Army Club and entered the semi-finals of the Sahara Surunga Gold Cup here in Surunga on Sunday.

Deepak Rai netted a brace for Rupandehi, while Bharat Khawas scored the consolation goal for TAC. Rai opened the scoring for Rupandehi in the 34th minute and doubled the tally in the 51st minute. Khawas did cut the deficit in the 80th minute but they failed to stage a comeback. Rai won the player-of-the-match award and received a mobile phone.

In Saturday’s opening match, Nepal Police Club beat hosts Surunga-XI 4-0 to secure a place in the last four. A total of eight teams are taking part in the competition. The winners and runners-up will took home Rs 351,111 and 251,111 respectively.
