Rupandehi clinch title

Rupandehi-XI won the title of the Rumpum fourth Udaypur Gold Cup Football Tournament in penalty shoot-out here today.
Rupandehi defeated Morang Football Club 4-3 in tie-breaker after both the teams failed to score in regulation period and extra time. In tie-breaker, Subas Magar, Buddha Chemjong, Uttam Gurung and Dilip Chhetri scored for Rupandehi, while Kalu Thapa failed to convert from the spot. For Morang, Niraj Basnet, Buddhi Man Rai and Bikash Khawas converted their kicks, while Bidur Rijal and Anas Magar failed to score.
Niraj Basnet of Morang was named the player of the tournament, while Dilip Chhetri of Rupandehi was declared the best goalkeeper. Biswas Shrestha of Himalayan Sherpa, Deepak Rai of Rupandehi and Raju Paudel of CMG Club Sankata were the joint highest scorers with two goals each. Ramu Thapa of Udaypur was adjudged the emerging player.
Champions Rupandehi received Rs 200,000, while runners-up Morang earned Rs 100,000. A total of eight teams had taken part in the tournament. President of All Nepal Football Association Narendra Shrestha and CDO Kali Prasad Parajuli among others handed over the prizes to the winners.
