SAFF veep accuses ANFA officials of graft, misconduct

KATHMANDU: Vice-President of South Asian Football Federation Mani Kunwar, on Monday, accused incumbent ANFA leadership of corruption and violation of election code.

Issuing a press release, the former vice-chair of ANFA said that ANFA officials including Chairperson Karma Chiring Sherpa, Vice-Chair Pankaj Bikram Nembang violated FIFA Code of Ethics Article 20 pertaining to offering and accepting gifts and other benefits, and Article 21 related to bribery. Moreover, Kunwar also accused the officials of defying Asian Football Confederation's Disciplinary and Ethics Code Article 68 related to corruption.

"I was aware of misconducts by ANFA officials during ANFA elections but I had to withdraw my candidacy in lack of evidence," the SAFF veep said. "Now, I have necessary evidence in hand and have forwarded it to FIFA and AFC for further investigation."

Moreover, Kunwar also accused the officials of passing death threats to election committee members and disbursing cash to voters to influence election results.
