KATHMANDU: Sabitra Bhandari scored two goals in two minutes as Nepal salvaged a 2-2 draw against India in an international friendly match in Chennai on Wednesday.
After a goalless first half, the home team took two-goal lead. India skipper Indumathi Kathiseran put her side ahead in the 56th minute, while substitute Soumya Guguloth doubled the tally in the 68th.
At a time when the match was heading towards the end, star striker Bhandari - who is popularly known as Samba in sporting fraternity - produced moments of brilliance to level the scores.
The all-time highest scorer for her country, Bhandari converted from the spot in the 90th minute and then added another in the second minute of the injury time.
The two teams will play their second and last match of the series on Saturday.
