Shanti Academy in semis

Bhaktapur, March 24:

Shanti Academy of Chitwan advanced to the semi-finals of the Wai Wai fifth KCC Running Shield Nationwide Inter-college Cricket Tournament with a nine-run win over Capital College and Research Centre (CCRC) today.

Batting first, Shanti Academy scored 136-7 in 20 overs and bowled out CCRC for 127 runs. Dinesh Thapa starred for Chitwan team scoring unbeaten 38 from 23 balls and returned with 4-9.

Sumit Shrestha was the pick of the CCRC bowlers with 4-25 from four overs while Aayush Sharma bagged two and Pawan Das took one wicket for CCRC.

In reply, Pawan Das top-scored with 40 off 37 balls for CCRC. Dol Bahadur Dagami also chipped in 25-ball 20. Kumar Thapa claimed 3-19 for Shanti Academy, the second best bowling figures after Thapa.

Shanti Academy will take on Himalayan White House International College in the second semi-finals on Wednesday. Hosts Kantipur City College ‘A’ are up against Classic College International in Tuesday’s first semi-finals.
