Sherpa lifts golf crown

Kathmandu, November 2:

Tashi Sherpa won the Chinese Ambassador Farewell Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.

Played under stable ford 3/4 handicap format, Sherpa earned 37 points to clinch the trophy ahead of Liu Jie, who scored 33 points. Sherpa also bagged the longest drive award at the Hole No 11. Tashi Ghale won the best gross award with 31 points and also sank two birdies to win the most birdies award.

Shastika Shrestha won the women’s section crown on count back after the RNGC Lady Captain was tied at 22 points with Kalpana Limbu. Madan Rana won the closest to the pin award at Hole No 17. A total of 35 golfers including eight ladies took part in the tournament. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin and RNGC President Madhukar Yakthumba gave away prizes to the winners.

Meanwhile, Yakthumba handed over a momento to Xianglin, who is returning back to his country on November 5 after completing his tenure in Nepal. Xianglin was appointed the Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nepal in April last year.
