Sherpa wins Yak Attack-2008

Kathmandu, March 19:

Kaji Sherpa won the second Berghaus Yak Attack-2008, an adventure sports held in the Annapurna region on March 8-16.

Biker Sherpa timed 20 hours, 52 minutes and 43 seconds to win the race ahead of runner Phudojee Lama Sherpa (21:08:34). Runner Philip Morris finished third at 22:06:22 and biker Pasang Sherpa fourth at 22:15:29. The top four winners received a purse of £500, £200, £100 and £50 respectively.

The overall winner Sherpa also got additional £150 for completing the race below 24-hour mark. Runner Hari Bahadur Rokaya had won the previous race in 24 hour and 5 minutes.

Runner Yangdi Sherpa, who finished overall 15th, won the women’s category with the timings of 29:23:55.

Extreme World Challenges, the UK-based adventure Company, had organised the event in association with Nepal Cycling Association. The 240km race started from Beshi Sahar of Lamjung district and ended at Beni Bazaar of Myagdi District, informed the organisers here at a press today.
