Rajani Shrestha won third gold medal for Nepal in the 55th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship here today.
Shrestha finished first in the women's Bodybuilding 55kg weight category ahead of India's Sabita Bania. Dinh Kim Lon from Vietnam was in third place. On Monday, Bishal Paudel (men's junior above-75kg weight category) and Sanam Mulguthi (women's swimsuit physique open category) had won gold medals for Nepal.
Tara Khaiju won silver medal in women's up to 155cm model physique after she finished behind Thailand's Kiratia Chantrat, who won the gold. India's Nima Doma Lama won the bronze. Raju Rai won silver medal in the men's physique category up to 170cm. Thailand's Wanchai Kanjanapimine won gold, while Vietnam's Taran Hong Dui Thuan claimed bronze. Rai had bagged the bronze medal in the previous edition of the championship in Maldives.
Similarly, Ranjit Lama won a bronze medal in the men's physique category above 170cm. Damrongsak Soyshree of Thailand finished first and Au Man Kit of Macau came second in the competition. Lalit Dhimal won silver for Nepal in men's bodybuilding 75kg weight category. Indian duo Rahul Chinda and Jagannath Khuntia bagged gold and bronze respectively. Likewise, Nepal's Krishna Prasad Shrestha won a bronze medal in the 80kg category. Thailand's Patiwat Alkawat won gold and India's Prakash Pradhan won silver.
Nepal took their medal count to 12 - three each gold and bronze and six silver medals.
A total of 236 athletes, including 168 men and 68 women, from 17 countries - Nepal, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, India, Kazakhstan, Macau, Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam - are competing in 45 categories of the championship organised by the Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation under the auspices of the Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.
