Shuttlers leave for South Korea

Kathmandu, April 5:

An eight-member Nepali team left for South Korea to take part in the Badminton Asia Championship to be held in Suwon from April 7-12.

Sajan Krishna Tamrakar, Kishor Rana, Rajendra Paneru, Sahadev Khadka and Ratna Jeet Tamang are the players in the team. Others in the team are Uttam Simkhada (coach), Nepal Badminton Association member Jayanti Basnet (team leader) and Nabin Bikram Shah (manager).

Nepal will take part in five singles matches and two doubles matches, informed NBA General Secretary Ramji Bahadur Shrestha. The players were selected as per their performance in the Krishna Mohan Memorial National Badminton Tournament, National Badminton Tournament and the current rankings, said Shrestha. Players from 39 Asian countries will participate in the tournament. Last year, Nepal had reached the second round in Malaysia.
