LALITPUR, DECEMBER 19

Six Nepali players won their first round matches of the Circuit-II event under the 20th Jayakar Memorial U-14 ATF Tournament here at the International Sports Complex courts today.

Nishad Joshi, Darsheel Shrestha, Boris Adhikari and Brijesh Aryal registered victories over Indian players in boys' section. Joshi defeated Sanjay Girish Kumar 6-2, 6-1, while Shrestha bagged a double bagel against Puqazhsevvel Prakash. Also, Adhikari beat Tanish Reddy 6-2, 6-0 and Aryal outplayed Aditya Singh 6-2, 6-1.

In other boys' section matches, India's Parth Sane beat Nepal's Aadrit Nepal 6-3, 1-6, 6-1, while Nasaf Ahmed Nasir Ahmed of Bangladesh outplayed Nepal's Shaswat Bajracharya 6-0, 6-0. Likewise, Arsh Walke of India defeated Asav Samrat Hada of Nepal 6-2, 6-4. Also advancing to the second round included India's Ishan Badaqi and Vivaan Mirdha and Hong Kong's Yue Hin Wong and Ki Cheon Morris Tnang.

In girls' section, Swastika Bista and Jenny Khadka won their first round matches.

Bista defeated Canada's Seemontini Pal 6-1, 6-2, while Khadka outplayed India's Prerana Santra 6-2, 6-3.

Samridhi Maharjan, Prajna Manandhar and Nibha Shrestha lost their matches against Indian opponents, while and Shivali Gurung faced defeat at the hands of a players from United States.

Sanvi Reddy Vundyala defeated Samridhi Maharjan 7-5, 7-5, while Tanishca Bhatnagar beat Prajna Manandhar 7-6(4), 6-4.

Likewise, Sarah Chaudhary outplayed Nibha Shrestha 6-0, 6-0 and Nala Josephine Maskey of USA defeated Shivali Gurung 6-3, 6-4. Naba Nishan of Maldives beat Canadian Norah Chaudhary 6-2, 6-2 and Oman's Aisha Al Busaidi outplayed Megalai Prakash of India 6-0, 6-1.

Earlier, Nepal Tennis Association President Jyoti Rana inaugurated the tournament organised by ManJayakar Tennis Academy under the auspices of NTA.
