Sports Journalists enter last eight
Sports Journalists’ team runner up in pool B entered the quarter-finals of the second five-a-side football tournament which got under way in Jawalakhel Youth Club ground on Saturday. Nepal Auto mobile Dealers’ Association also took berth in the quarter-finals from pool B.
Gyanodaya School and Wilson Academy from pool A defeated their opponents to book spot in the last eight, while Syakar Company and Himalayan Bank confirmed their places in the quarter-finals from pool C. From pool D, Manang Youth Society and Jyoti Academy became the pool champion and runner up to enter the last eight.
Earlier, Nepal Automobiles’ Dealers Association was the only team to beat Sports Journalists’ team. Sports Journalists’ team defeated Alpine Travels 4-0 and Himalayan Enfield Bikes 2-1, while the team earned walkover from Lifan Motorcycles Company. Sports Journalists’ team conceded four goals, while it scored seven goals out of the 210 goals of the day’s 40 matches. Of the seven goals, Aman Adhikari and Kishor Bhattarai scored five and two goals respectively.
According to the fixtures, Sports Journalists’ team will take on Manang Youth Society; Gyanodaya is scheduled to play against Himalayan Bank; Wilson Academy will play against Syakar Company and Nepal Automobiles Dealers’ Association is slated to play against Jyoti Academy. Soccer Group of Lalitpur is organising the two-day tournament.
