Sri Lanka wins toss, asks India to bat in 1st ODI

RAJKOT: Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and sent India in to bat first Tuesday in the opening limited-overs international of the five-match series.

India left out middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh, who failed to recover from a finger injury. His place was taken by Virat Kohli.

Sri Lanka goes into the game without offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan and paceman Lasith Malinga. Muralitharan has been sidelined by a finger injury, while Malinga is out with flu.
