LALITPUR: St Xavier’s Jawalakhel School won the title of the 21st Fr Moran Memorial Inter-school Football Tournament here on Tuesday.

St Xavier’s Jawalakhel defeated Nepal Don Bosco School 2-1 in the final. Nishant Thapa Magar and Sparsha Jung Pandey scored for the champions, while Michael Tamang netted the consolation goal for Don Bosco. Similarly, hosts St Xavier’s Godavari defeated Crescent Academy 2-1 in the third-place playoff.

Tamang was declared the best player of the tournament, while Nishant Thapa Magar of St Xavier’s Jawalakhel was the highest scorer with 13 goals. Likewise, Umeed Rayamajhi of Vidhya Sanskar (goalkeeper), Sumit Thapa of St Xavier’s Godavari (defender), Thomas Tamang of St Xavier’s Godavari (promising player) and Om Krishna Shrestha of St Xavier’s Jawalakhel (coach) won the individual awards.

A total of 12 teams took part in the tournament sponsored by Nepal Telecom and supported by Godavari Alumni Association.
