Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Shanker Dev Campus 113- 56 and advanced to the men's section quarter-finals of the Lama Tendi Sherpa Memorial Open Basketball Championship here at the NSC covered hall on Wednesday. TAC's Sourav Shrestha and Shanker Dev's Rajesh Thakuri netted 18 points each.
Dream Team, who were not in action on Wednesday, also made it to the last eight from the three-team Group B.
In another match, Kirtipur Municipality beat HIK Vision 75-59 riding on 17 points from Suraj Khadgi. In women's section, Lalitpur High recorded a 93-28 victory over Kirtipur. Elina Gurung scored 15 for Lalitpur, while Jharana Bajracharya netted 18 for Kirtipur.
A total of 13 teams are taking part in the men's section, while five teams are competing in women's category of the 11-day championship organised by Nepal Basketball Association to pay tribute to its former president Lama Tendi Sherpa. Top two teams in both categories will receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, while the MVPs will get Rs 10,000 each.
