Taekwondo teams to go to Bangkok
Kathmandu, October 17
A nine-member taekwondo team from Chitwan is on Wednesday leaving for Thailand to participate in the sixth Tirak International Taekwondo Championship slated for October 22-24 in Bangkok.
Mohamad Kalim Ullah Miya, Sandip Giri, Dhan Bahadur Darai, Ranjit Mahato, Parbati Gurung, Anuma Tamang and Nabina Khaniya will compete in senior events, while Mohamad Umar Khan and Sushmita Magar will take part in junior category. Naya Shakti Nepal Party’s Coordinator Baburam Bhattarai bade farewell to the team amidst a programme organised by Nepal Taekwondo Association on Monday.
Meanwhile, a separate six-member team is on Friday leaving for Bangkok to participate in the second Heroes International Taekwondo Tournament to be held from October 22-24.
Bibek Shrestha (28kg), Pushpa Prasad Gautam (45kg) and Tilak Lama (80kg) will fight in men’s events, while Chandu Shahi (45kg) and Pratigya Bhandari (62kg) will participate in women’s category. Coach-cum-player Ashok Khadka will compete in the men’s singles poomsae event.
Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripali bade farewell to the team amidst a programme on Monday.
