KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 27
Top Nepali golfer Subash Tamang and Qatar national team member Selah Ali Lakaabi shared the lead after the first round of the Nepal Tourism Amateur Golf Championship here at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club today.
Tamang and Lakaabi carded two-under 70 to remain at the top of the standing in men's section, while Tashi Tshiring of Nepal was third at even-par 72.
Madhav Simkhada was at the fourth position after he played a round of three-over 75, while Wangchen Dhondup was next at four-over 76.
Sadbhav Acharya and Ajit BK shared the sixth place at fiveover 77, while Suresh Tamang was eighth at six-over 78. Bangladeshi golfer Liton Mondol remained in the top 10 despite shooting seven-over 77.
In girls' section, Kashmira Shah took an eight-stroke lead after she carded five-over 77 in the opening round. Sushma Sigdel and Prativa Rai shared the second position at 13-over 85, while Bangladeshi duo Sonia Akther and Ringkee Akther were tied at fifth position after they shot 17-over 89 each.
In the boys' team event, Nepal 'A' - represented by Subash Tamang and Sadbhav Acharya - carded three-over 147 to take one-shot lead over Nepal 'B' team of Tashi Tshiring and Wangchen Dhondup (148). Qatari team of Selah Ali Lakaabi and Abdulrahman AL Shahrani was tied for third with Gandaki Province team of Ajit BK and Suresh Tamang at 10-over 154. Bangladesh team of Liton Mondol and Mehedi Hasan was fifth at 17-over 161.
In girls' team event, Nepali team of Kashmira Shah and Sushma Sigdel carded18-over 162 and the home team was 16 strokes ahead of Bangladeshi team of Sonia Akther and Ringkee Akther. Bagmati Province team of Prativa Rai and Tara Karki Chitrakar was third at 38- over 182. Fakre Shah achieved a rear feat of Hole-in-One on the 16th hole on his was to shooting a 16-over 88.
