Thapa clinches gold medal

Anil Kumar Thapa of Chitwan won gold medal in the 15th National Bodybuilding Tournament held under the seventh National Games here at the International Sports Complex today.
Thapa finished first in the above-80kg category, while Tilak Tamang of Nuwakot and Tul Shrestha of Jhapa won silver and bronze medals respectively. In 80kg weight category, Prabesh Shrestha of Bhaktapur won gold, ahead of second-placed Paras Bhujel from Sunsari and third-placed Naresh Malakar from Kathmandu.
Rabi Maharjan of Kathmandu, Suresh Gurung of Kaski and Umesh Balami of Kavre won gold, silver and bronze respectively in 55kg, while Rujesh Shahi of Lalitpur, Sanjeev Kumar Shrestha from Kapilvastu and Ramesh Karki from Morang claimed top three spots in 60kg weight category.
In 65kg weight section, Ram Bahadur Dahal from Jhapa won gold, while Anil Lal Malla from Kathmandu and Deepak Dhoj Shahi of Tribhuvan Army Club won silver and bronze medals respectively.
Likewise, Ram Hari Khanal from Kavre, Ujjwol Ratna Bajracharya from Bhaktapur and Chandra Man Shrestha from Rupandehi claimed top three spots in 70kg weight category, whereas Maheshowr Maharjan from Kathmandu, Nabin Kumar Gurung from Chitwan and Subarna Khadka from Dolakha won gold, silver and bronze respectively in 75kg section.
A total of 67 players from 25 districts participated in the two-day tournament.
