Thapa qualifies

Kathmandu, May 31:

Athlete Chandra Kala Thapa qualified for the Beijing Olympics after she earned the highest point at the selection tournament today.

The Nepal Police athlete earned 939 points winning the 100m race in 12.54 seconds. Another athlete Arjun Basnet will also take part in Marathon at the Olympics. 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m races were included in the selection. The Nepal Amateur Athletics Association (NAAA) followed the IAAF Scoring Tables of Athletics to determine the points. The NAAA also selected four junior athletes — Baliram Chaudhary, Sipora Gurung, Sunil Dahal and Gaumaya Chaudhary — for the World Junior
